State of the Region Updates 22 Indicators
These 22 indicator updates include key findings on air fares (Economy, 1.7 Air Fares), noting the continued decline in ticket prices for the Buffalo air market. Also updated is indicator 7.1 Violent Crime (Public Safety), which finds crime rates in Western New York increased dramatically from 2000 to 2003.
The following indicators are also up-to-date as of February 2005: Economy (1.2 Weekly Earnings and 1.5 Cost of Living); Environment (2.3 Stream and Lake Quality, 2.9 Recycling, and 2.10 Radon); Government (3.2 Local Government Revenue Sources, 3.4 Local Government Debt, and 3.6 Bond Ratings); Education (4.2 Student Teacher Diversity, 4.7 Dropout Rates, and 4.0 Colleges and Universities); Health (6.1 Birth Weight and 6.4 Teen Pregnancy); Public Safety (7.2 Property Crime); Planning & Land Use (10.2 Farms and Farmland and 10.5 Road and Bridge Conditions); and Regional Assets (11.1 Audiences for Arts and Culture, 11.2 Audiences for Sports and Recreation, 11.3 Affordability of Family Outings, and 11.7 Hosting Visitors).
