Reaching for Excellence is a collaborative, community-based initiative to envision possibilities and set goals for a stronger, improved health care system for the eight-county Western New York region. The initiative is sponsored by the Community Health Foundation of Western and Central New York and The John R. Oishei Foundation, in partnership with the P2 Collaborative of Western New York. The Regional Institute is serving as project coordinator and a primary consultant. Reaching for Excellence is organized around three components: 1) "One Friday: Four Futures," a series of community conversations designed to amplify the voice of health care consumers in setting health priorites for Western New York, 2) a multi-part speaker series featuring communities which have achieved a level of excellence in their health care, and 3) a dashboard of key health care system performance indicators. Launched in 2007, the project will conclude in July 2009 with a release of a Western New York regional health care dashboard.
